Facial Fillers

Botox  |  Facial Fillers

What are fillers?

Fillers are injectable gels made of hyaluronic acid. Youthful skin is naturally rich in hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid has a vital function in the skin. It binds water and thereby hydrates the skin and keeps it fresh, firm and healthy. The most commonly used fillers are Juvederm and Restylane, they provide a smooth natural look and feel.

How does it work?

When injected into the skin, the gel plumps the skin and replenishes your own natural stocks of hyaluronic acid. It works at a deep dermal level to stimulate the production of collagen and improve skin elasticity, softening the appearance of facial lines and restoring youthful volume and shape to the face.

What do I do before fillers?

We prefer that you refrain from using aspirin or anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen for the two weeks prior to your treatments. If you require these medications for your health, please don't stop taking them. You can still have fillers.

Is there any "down time."

You can expect slight redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, itching and/or bruising following filler injections. This is the same as you might expect with any type of injection. However, the discomfort is temporary and generally disappears after a few days. With lip enhancement, it is wise to choose your treatment time with care since your lips may become swollen and appear slightly uneven for a few days.

How long before I see results?

Results are immediate. One of the great advantages of fillers is that the effects are long lasting but not permanent. You are always in control of your looks. Follow-up treatment is usually needed after 6-12 months for Restylane. While Juvederm can last up to 12 months. Duration depends on many factors, such as skin type, lifestyle, age, the degree of perfection demanded by the patient.

Does filler treatment hurt?

Some people may experience the treatment as a mild discomfort. A local anesthetic cream is often used. Another form of anesthesia, a dental bloc, is used to numb the area when enhancing lips.
